RAW is back this Tuesday night - April 6th // A Letter

RAW Running Weekly Email

To our RAW family,

We’ve got good news to share. We’ve missed your energy, your encouragement, and your ongoing dedication to make RAW a special place that puts community, fitness, and each other first. And with much consideration and over a year of running alone, we’ve decided it’s time to give our group the opportunity to come back together and pick up where we left off, with even more appreciation and acknowledgment for the special thing we have —  the RAW community,

We're excited to invite you all back on Tuesday nights and to meet up again if the time is right for you, starting April 6th! A lot has happened in the last year and not having every Tuesday to look forward to- to run #HAF, drink beers with our friends and watch Paras drink Whiteclaws - has been strange.

It’s important to acknowledge that our country is still navigating a world where COVID is a part of our everyday life. Part of being a good citizen of this world and our RAW family is to be thoughtful and considerate of others, especially in this transition where not all people are vaccinated, we all have different risk tolerances and we are all dealing with different personal situations outside of RAW. So, we're going to ask that you be mindful of others over the next few weeks as we are starting to meet up again.

As we look forward to Tuesday night together, we have some recommendations that we’d like all of members to keep in mind when attending:

  • For the first few weeks, our workouts will be in larger areas (i.e. Zilker Park, Barton Springs pool, Pease Park, etc.) where we can space out and start in waves as needed. We'll return to the track and other workouts that require us to be closer in proximity when it is more appropriate.

  • If you've been exposed to someone with COVID, have been traveling, or aren't feeling so hot (COVID or not), and it’s within 10 days of the next meetup - do the right thing and stay home.

  • Be cognizant of others' space and be mindful that your neighbor may not have the same comfort/risk tolerance, regardless if you or others around you have been vaccinated (or not).

  • For the runs, we invite our members to wear masks if that makes you feel most comfortable and we recommend that all members wear a mask when we gather in the courtyard before the run starts. That said, masks are not required while running.

  • In the bar, Mean Eyed Cat requires that all people wear masks when you are walking around inside, outside, or when ordering drinks from the bar. You do not have to wear a mask when you are seated at a table.

We're really excited to come back - but we ask that you respect other members of the group, be safe, use common sense and bear with us while we ramp up to 'normal.'

WHY RAW

RAW began to bring people together who wanted to bust their ass each week to become better runners and improve their fitness. RAW has done just that. We've all met amazing people and have seen a lot of personal best go down along the way! It's been a great ride thus far and we look forward to continuing to roll down this road at HAF pace with all of you.

WHO IS RAW FOR

EVERYONE! RAW welcomes runners of all levels. It doesn't matter if you run a 5 or 12 minute mile, RAW workouts are designed for YOU to run at the pace that is hard for YOU. Come try a workout, bring your friends and let's get after it together!
