FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - 400m Showdown, Alonso vs. Claire!

TONIGHT - A matchup unlike any other, Claire is taking on Alonso in a 400m race that will almost certainly been one for the ages. Months in the making, this race was manufactured completely disingenuously by Alonso's inability to shut up. Much to everyone's surprise, Claire, one of the sweetest and kindest people this side of the Mississippi, agreed to this battle and replied, "Pick a date." With that, Claire, a former 400m collegiate runner at Trinity University in San Antonio, is taking on Alonso whose greatest athletic accomplishment to date is that he once jogged to his car parked in the back of the mall parking lot in pouring rain without stopping. Needless to say, these are two titans going at it.Race Preview:As with all things FNL, we have ordered up near perfect weather. No wind, a brisk 55 degrees, and a roaring crowd will descend upon Yellow Jacket stadium to watch this spectacle. The FNL committee has run multiple polls on Instagram and taken a pulse of the general community to see what the people are saying. To no one's surprise, Claire is the crowd favorite (and rightfully so, she's a better person than Zo) - but just because she's the crowd favorite does not make her the betting favorite. Given the dispersement of bets placed in the past 2 weeks, this is about as fair of a matchup as they come. Alonso is perpetually injured both physically and mentally, but hoists a PR of 58 seconds for 400m from his pre-beer drinking days. Claire has run 63.xx for 400m in college and is in similar shape, but admittedly has not done "any speed work" lately. **NOTE: This race is only 400 meters....if you show up late, you'll probably miss the most exciting 67 seconds of the year.
