Water, Headlamps, and No Headphones/Dogs

Hi y’all,

We have 5 more open weeks for 2025 for folks to bring water. Grab a friend, pick your week ASAP, and follow the instructions, pretty simple! There are 3 open spots for 2026 if you want to get a jump on the New Year. We’ll create a new list soon and ensure the names added are carried over.

Headlamps are required from now until March 8th (Daylight Savings). It’s getting darker earlier these days and we have a large group. Most of our winter running will be on streets and better lit routes, but its still dark on the warm ups and cool downs. If you could do your part to bring a headlamp it would be greatly appreciated.

Secondly, the group is large. We run on neighborhood streets. We warm up using the trail, down 5th street, Lamar, and everywhere else. Sometimes there’s traffic, but also, given the size of each workout there’s just a lot of people around. Purely for safety, we are formally instituting a NO HEADPHONES AND NO DOGS rule. Seriously, no more headphones or dogs at workouts.

A byproduct of the no headphones rule is that hopefully it’ll force those of you that do wear headphones to talk and make friends or simply suffer in silence together. RAW is a place that many of us have met some of our best friends. It’s also a place to not deal with social media, work emails, your significant other texting you the million things you need to do when you get home, your asshole boss, or anything else that is going on in your life. It’s a place to run HAF, drink some beers at Mean Eyed Cat, and if you’re feeling like it, smoking a cigarette or two. Having headphones in during the workout makes all of the above harder.

And for those of you that “can’t run unless you’re listening to music” - yes you can. There’s ~200 other people doing it alongside you every week.
